 Note: This position will be 24 hours per week at $17 per hour. 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Domestic Violence Specialist is part of a Domestic Violence team providing crisis intervention, case management, trauma recovery support and education. The DV Specialist will assist the Domestic Violence Counselor in planning, organizing and leading structured client and healthcare provider DV workshops and trainings.


The Domestic Violence Specialist is responsible for providing case management, patient navigation, and referral services for DV survivors. This includes intake/screening, safety planning, sexual and reproductive health education, and linkage and navigation services for all program participants. Services are provided at two different CHASI locations, including 26 Bay Street and the Family Justice Center on Stuyvesant Street.


  •  Conducts initial intake/screening, safety planning and risk assessment.
  •  Determine clientís immediate needs and complete service plan accordingly.
  •  Provide information, referral and advocacy to clientís serve.
  •  Link and refer clients to appropriate services with on-and -off site Family Justice Center partners.
  •  Provide DV and sexual health education to victims of domestic violence.
  •  Conduct client workshops on DV, womenís health and empowerment.
  •  Conduct workshops for healthcare providers about signs and symptoms of abuse, strangulation, and referral.
  •  Work with on-site and off-site partners to schedule client appointments.
  •  Ensure female clients are linked to primary care and sexual health services.
  •  Document clientís interactions in all assigned databases.
  •  Accompany clients as necessary to ensure successful engagement in care.
  •  Assist DV counselor with preparation and facilitation of group sessions.
  •  Provide case management services as needed.
  •  Coordinates services designed to integrate substance abuse treatment, mental health and other recovery support services for all program participants.
  •  Attend regular and mandatory team, department meetings, trainings and contractor-facilitated provider meetings
  •  Other duties as assigned.




Bachelorís degree in health, human or education services or a high school diploma or equivalency with 2 years of relevant experience in human services.  The preferred candidate will have experience and knowledge working with Domestic Violence victims.



  • Bilingual      (English/Spanish) fluency preferred
  • Effective      oral & written communication skills
  • Strong      organizational & problem-solving skills
  • Ability      to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
  • Previous      experience in trauma informed care & case management is strongly      preferred

TRAVEL OR SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Some clients might be home-bound and in need of home visits. Evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
